I love old test equipment, and anything with the Heathkit name is always worth grabbing when it shows up! I am still trying to grab a couple of old Linear Amplifiers, but they just do not seem to show up that often, and when they do, they are normally being sold by someone that thinks that they are gold plated and worth way more than they are.
But I like having a play with these when the time allows, I have about 10 now of various makes, and it is quite surprising just how different they are from one another.
Heathkit are always a nice surprise, especially as the manuals are readily available, and most of their equipment was sold in kit form, and if you are extremely fortunate, you can still come across un-opened kits still out there, but these are getting a lot rare these days.
This was a nice little find that I sore pop-up on ‘Face ache’ being advertised at ‘Radioworld’ in the UK, I like Radioworld because they are always fair with their postal costs and have never let me down with anything that I have had off them.
What grabbed me about this was not just the name ‘Heathkit’ but also that it had paperwork with it, but also a nice plastic box and not the normal cardboard ones that fall apart over time.
But a nice manual always grabs it for me – Yet another item to scan in and share with others.
This item seemed to have a few added bonus documents coming along with it
It is kind of a shame that the items relating to the manuals was also not available as I would have grabbed then also, but it is nice to grab these manuals as well just to make sure that I can do a good quality scan of them for the website.
The Meter is not only in great condition, but it looks nearly new, and I gave it a quick test and it works great, I have not tried all the slugs yet, but I will get around to it in a day or two. So, a nice find and yet another Grid Dip Meter for the collection.
What I might do when the time allows me is to do a comparison of all of the Grid Dip Meters that I own and see just how good they are and maybe a few tutorials on using them in todays modern restoration shack along side there equivalents some 40 years on.
Thanks Radioworld for the hassle free sale and fast delivery, you guys never let me down.
